Outside at The WGC

I know several of you have been wanting more information on the exterior of our home. Truth is, I haven’t wanted to share too much about it because it’s been such a huge work in progress. Finally though, I feel like I can share a bit more about it.

This weekend I spent some much needed time outside. Sometimes I can’t even think of doing one more DIY project, or painting another thing. So instead of working on projects or looking at my e-mails or project calendar, I stepped away. My mom and I went to the flower nursery, I day dreamed about buying loads of trees at our local nurseries, I helped Anthony irrigate the corn and I planted flowers. It was peaceful. And wonderful. And just what I needed… wind and all.

There’s nothing quite like the blooming flowers and growing bushes to make my heart happy. I added in some new solar landscape lighting, which I got when I visited my wonderful mother-in-law, and the front of our home is starting to look how I hoped it would two years ago. We still have so much to do, but I finally feel like we’re making progress…

Our salvia is doing phenomenal. I just soak them up. Their beauty is a contagious spring board of inspiration…

And any day now our day lilies are going to bloom and it’s going to be absolutely wonderful…

And looking back, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much our trees have grown…

Here they are now…

And here they are when they were first planted…

I’m seeing growth everywhere I look… even our garden shed underwent a makeover last summer…

This is a normal view here… especially this time of year. Irrigating boots are always right by the front porch, plants are starting to grow and come alive and everywhere I look I see more and more things to be done…

Things are coming alive… and I can’t wait to keep adding! I have a few big projects I’d like to complete outside this summer, and several of them are in the front of the house… But today, well I’m just happy my iris’s finally bloomed!

  1. Yup, we were totally overdue for an outside post. It’s hard to believe that’s your house! I thought this whole time you guys were waiting to do landscaping. Will there be wider-angle shots available? IE, what the landscape looks like with the whole house in the picture. 🙂 I’m just nosey and want to see the whole thing! 🙂 Please forgive me.
